When renting a kayak, please come prepared to get wet from the drip of your paddle or water splashed on deck. We recommend wearing lightweight synthetic clothing or even swimwear.
Our sit-on-top kayaks have self-draining openings, called scupper holes, that allow water to drain away from the deck of the kayak. These are especially important for drainage of water splashed into the kayak. They are also important for buoyancy by preventing the kayak from getting too heavy from water on the deck. At times small amounts of water may even come up through the scupper holes, this may occur in choppy water or when you’re approaching the kayak’s maximum weight capacity.
It's a 6-8 minute walk from the rental kiosk to the water. We do give you a grace period for this walk on your rental, so that you get your full time on the water.
