Watercraft Rental FAQ
We’re here to help! If you have questions about our watercraft rentals, you’re at the right place! Continue reading below to get answers for our most frequently asked questions about our watercrafts.
How old do you have to be to rent a boat? Any age restrictions to ride?
Renters must have someone that is at least 18 years of age in the party to sign the liability rental waiver. (Current government issued photo-ID like a Drivers License, State ID, or Passport is required.) Minors must have a parent or guardian over 18 years of age out on the water – no exceptions. Additionally, riders must be 10 years of age or older to be on a Single Kayak, Hydro Bike, or Single SUP, and 5 years of age or older when accompanied by a parent/guardian on a Double or Triple Kayak or Large SUP. All ages are welcome to ride the pedal boats (we even have infant life jackets).
How much does it cost to rent a boat?
We offer hourly, half day (up to 4 hours), and full day (up to 8 hour) rentals. Click here for rental rates > Sales tax and booking fee is additional.
How many people can fit on a boat?
Each of our boats have a different capacity. Check out our RENTALS page and click on a product to view capacity information about each product.
Will I get wet?
Yes, expect to get wet when renting a watercraft from us. When using the paddle boards you will be expected to walk into knee deep water before standing upon the board. For the Single and Double kayaks you will have small amounts of water entering the boat during use because of the scupper holes inside the boat. These scupper holes allow for the kayaks to be self draining but they allow a small amount of water to enter, and also help with overall buoyancy. In the pedal boat small amounts of water may splash you from the small waves.
What do you recommend I bring?
We recommend you bring drinking water for everyone on the boat, it can get hot out on the water! Sunscreen, weather appropriate clothing (sun shirts, baseball caps, wide brim hats, etc.) so you don’t overheat. Plan to get a little wet from the drip of the paddle, and splashes from small waves. If you wear sunglasses, we recommend bringing floating sunglass straps. Food can be purchased from Sunset Beach Café (a short walk from Tibbett’s Beach) however, we also recommend you bring light snacks of your own like granola bars, whole fruit, etc. for sustained energy while you are paddling. Dry bags to keep your belongings safe and dry while you are out on the water can be added to your rental for an additional $5.
Do I need to accompany my child on the water?
Yes, you must be out on the water and see your child at all times.
Are there life guards at Lake Sammamish State Park?
No, there are no life guards at Lake Sammamish State Park. Swim at your own risk.
Do I need to sign a liability form to use a rental?
Yes, everyone in your group who wants to use the watercraft must sign a liability form. If you want to add someone to your group, bring them with you to the concession where they can sign a liability form.
WHAT SIZE LIFE JACKETS DO YOU HAVE?
We offer life jackets in a variety of sizes that can accommodate newborns through adult sizes up to 2XL (58″ chest circumference).
Do I need to wear a life jacket?
Yes, no matter your age, type of rental, or how great of a swimmer you are, a life jacket is required to be zipped, buckled, and properly fitted at all times during your rental. We provide life jackets for all renters and they are disinfected regularly.
Can I bring my own life jacket to wear?
For safety and compliance reasons, personal life jackets are not permitted for use with rentals. We provide Coast Guard-certified life jackets, equipped with safety whistles, free of charge with every rental, and offer a wide range of sizes—from infant to adult (up to a 2XL – 58″ chest circumference).
Are dogs allowed on the boats?
Yes, we are dog friendly. Pet owners should use good judgement when deciding whether or not to bring their dog. Dogs should be friendly, well socialized, and always kept on a leash. Pet owners are responsible for their dog(s) at all times including lifting them in and out of the boat. Life jackets are not required for dogs, nor do we provide life jackets for pets. If you wish to bring your own life jacket for your dog, you may do so.
Are food and drinks allowed on the boats?
Yes, non-alcoholic drinks and food are permitted aboard the boats. A small lap-sized cooler is allowed. Please note: there is no alcohol allowed onboard. All renters must abide by this rule or your rental will be terminated with no option for a refund. We also offer the option to rent a dry bag during your rental to keep your food and snacks dry.
Can I rent a watercraft for an entire day?
Yes! You can make a full-day rental reservation on all products with the exception of the pedal boat. Pedal boats can only be rented hourly. Renters may not take rental watercraft off-site; all boats must stay on Lake Sammamish and be returned by closing time same-day.
Do you provide lockers for valuables while we are out on the water?
No, we do not have lockers at this time. But we do plan to bring in this amenity for the 2026 season. Currently there is no place to store your belongings at the lake, and we cannot hold any personal belongings in the kiosk. You are responsible for your personal items. We do offer dry bag rentals so you can take small items like your wallet and phone, out on the water with you.
Do you rent jet skis?
No, we only rent human-powered watercraft.
