Louisville Waterfront Park was nominated for best Riverwalk in 2023 and is currently holding the #3 spot in the nation!

Thoughtfully transformed over the last 30 years, Louisville’s waterfront and magnificent green gateway to the Commonwealth of Kentucky has become an award-winning community gathering space and downtown Louisville’s most visited destination — with 2.2 million annual visitors who come to experience the beauty of Kentucky’s riverfront.

Last year the park placed fourth in the national competition behind Detroit, Cincinnati, and Wilmington. This year, the park is hoping to claim the top spot with the help of the entire community.

“We are thrilled to once again be nominated by the editors of 10Best as one of America’s top 20 riverwalks,” said Deborah Bilitski, president and executive director of Waterfront Park. “We are asking for help from everyone who shares a sense of pride in our beautiful waterfront to help us finally claim our rightful place as the [No. 1] Best Riverwalk in the United States.”

Since 1986, Louisville’s frontage along the Ohio River has undergone quite the renaissance with the introduction of the 85-acre Waterfront Park, an expanse of picnic areas, walking paths and sprawling green spaces.

Visitors to the riverwalk enjoy picnic areas, playgrounds, boat launches and numerous public art installations.
